I wanted to tie the Cassin and do a video on it because I like the look of the fly. Although it is a Brook Trout fly, I have never fished it or even heard of it until I started researching and reading up on classic wet fly patterns. For many of the flies I do videos on (wet flies) it is difficult to find any history on them (some have so much you're not certain what is true). I did manage to find some information on the Cassin published by Eric Austin (Ohio). Eric has an interesting write up on the Cassin that also sheds some light on how some of these flies get their names (https://www.flyanglersonline.com/features/oldflies/part463.php). I can't say there is a definitive answer as to where the Cassin comes from but at least it is an interesting story. Well worth the read.

Overall, a fun fly to tie and it really does not take that long to tie although it looks a little more intimidating than most wet flies. - - Enjoy
