STEVEN'S FAVORITE QUOTES: The Sacred Fire of Liberty

This week, I share one of my favorite quotes from the Father of our Nation, George Washington, found in the Constitution chapter in the Founders' Speech To A Nation In Crisis.
Listen carefully to how Washington emphasizes the strong connection between virtue and happiness or prosperity and warns that disregarding the fundamental principles of order and justice established by Heaven will result in the loss of divine favor and, ultimately, the downfall of the nation.
The "Sacred Fire of Liberty" has been entrusted to us as a people. Was there ever a time in history that we needed these words more?
Our hardcover version of The Founders' Speech To A Nation in Crisis, personally signed by me, is on sale this week. Thank you to all those who have already purchased their copy and written to me about how this book has impacted you and your families. I value every comment because it confirms the calling I felt to write this book.

There exists in the economy and course of nature, an indissoluble union between virtue and happiness, between duty and advantage, between the genuine maxims of an honest and magnanimous policy, and the solid rewards of public prosperity and felicity; since we ought to be no less persuaded that the propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right, which Heaven itself has ordained; and since the preservation of the sacred fire of liberty, and the destiny of the republican model of government are justly considered as deeply, perhaps as finally staked, on the experiment entrusted to the hands of the American people. -George Washington
