Rami Malek | Before They Were Famous | Biography
Rami Malek was working as a pizza delivery man in Los Angeles. Dreaming of becoming a professional actor he would wake up in the living room of a cramped two-bedroom apartment he did whatever he could to make his dreams of stardom come into fruition. Placing his headshot and information in envelopes, he would tape them to the bottom of the pizza boxes and distributing them to every customer he delivered to. This is just one of the many crazy stories actors have from their days of desperation. But for most thespians, winning an Oscar isn't even a slight possibility. Most are lucky just to get a regular gig. Rami Malek is one of the exceptions. Landing his first role of Gilmore Girls in 2004, the L.A. native moved on to film roles in Night at the Museum, Battleship, Twilight, The Master and more. His TV roles in The War at Home and 24 were notable, but his performance as Snafu in The Pacific showed us that he was truly an actor to look out for. Receiving a bachelor of fine arts at the University of Evansville in 2003, Rami had been preparing for the moment when he would finally get his big break. This came when he was cast in 2015 as computer hacker Elliot Alderson on Mr. Robot. For this, he snagged a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. While his performance on the show has been acclaimed, nobody was prepared for the impact Rami would have on the movie world with Bohemian Rhapsody where he portrayed the one and only Freddy Mercury.
