Vivek Ramaswamy: A Different Value System Is Needed Over Affirmative Action

Vivek Ramaswamy argues that race-based affirmative action is a form of discrimination against whites, Asians, and even blacks. It is anti-meritocratic and teaches black children that they need special favors to succeed. Ramaswamy's own experience attending a racially diverse public school showed that none of his black classmates were unable to achieve what he did because of their race. Instead, he argues that the decline of two-parent households in the black community and the implementation of affirmative action have contributed to the belief that success is only possible through special privileges. He suggests that instead of relying on quotas and affirmative action, Americans should focus on hard work and dedication to achieve their goals, regardless of their race. By promoting stable families and education, we can empower black Americans and promote a true meritocracy.
