Exploring The Doe River Gorge Railroad On A Rail Bike

Finally a reasonably in depth tour of the right of way of the original Tweetsie Railroad, The East Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad. After being ripped up in 1951,( except for 11 miles of which 10 were ripped up in 2012-13) 2.5 miles were rebuilt in the 1960s for a theme park. After a few different owners, it was bought in 1987 by Doe River Gorge Ministries. By 2000 the first mile to Pardee Point was restored to run proper trains again but there is always something to maintain and a mile and a half left to rebuild!

Doe River Gorge has a lot more than just a railroad, if you would like to support them, here is a link, : https://www.doerivergorge.com/donate/
