Melchizedek, the first person in Holy Scripture called to be a priest, a gentile living nearly a thousand years before the sons of Aaron served in the temple of Solomon, provides for us a prefiguration of Christ, whose roles as our King and our Priest are inseparable. Fr. Pat preached this homily on the Fourth Sunday of Great Lent (St. John Climacus), April, 10, 2005.
