Firefighters in the Valencia region of eastern Spain have been battling the country’s first major wildfire of the year, which broke out on Thursday and burned thousands of acres of land by Sunday, March 26. The wildfire had scorched 3,800 hectares (more than 93,000 acres) by Sunday morning, according to the GVA Emergency Coordination Center. At least 1,500 people near Valencia were evacuated on Saturday, the center said. Spanish newspaper ABC said the Civil Guard was investigating four workers after sparks from a brush cutter caused a fire on a forest path. Credit: Bombers Dipcas via Storyful
