Massive Sacramento Meth and Guns Seizure: Five Arrested in Traffic Stop
A routine traffic stop in Sacramento, California, on March 18, led to a massive seizure of nearly 53 pounds of methamphetamine and 62 guns. The Sacramento Police Department arrested five people, including Darvel Dailey, Lakiva Devore, Jeanette Flores, and Raymond Shermer, in connection with the seizure.
The traffic stop, which occurred near Highway 99 and Mack Road, resulted in the arrest of Dailey, Devore, and Flores, who were charged with conspiracy to transport methamphetamine. The police found 51 pounds of methamphetamine in the two cars they pulled over. The arrests led to the execution of search warrants at four locations, where ghost guns and another 1.5 pounds of methamphetamine were found.
Sergeant Zach Eaton, spokesperson for the department, stated that the number of guns seized in one seizure was not something seen every day. Some of the guns found were "ghost guns," which are firearms that are assembled from parts that can be purchased online and do not have serial numbers. He also noted that people who are prohibited from possessing firearms may be making their own firearms.
"The community has a right to be alarmed when they see something like this. We are alarmed as well which is why we investigated a case like this," Eaton said.
Raymond Shermer was arrested on firearms-related charges during the execution of the search warrants.
The seizure of nearly 53 pounds of methamphetamine and 62 guns highlights the ongoing problem of drug and gun trafficking in the United States. According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, methamphetamine is one of the most commonly abused drugs in the country, and its use has been on the rise in recent years. The proliferation of ghost guns also poses a significant challenge to law enforcement agencies, as they are difficult to trace and regulate.
The Sacramento Police Department's successful operation serves as a reminder of the crucial role that law enforcement agencies play in combating drug and gun trafficking. It also underscores the importance of community involvement in reporting suspicious activities and providing information that can help prevent crimes.
The five suspects are currently facing charges for their involvement in the trafficking operation. The Sacramento Police Department and other law enforcement agencies will continue to work tirelessly to keep communities safe from the devastating effects of drug and gun trafficking.
