CDC: Fatal Fungus Is Sweeping Throughout Hospitals Nationwide

Candida auris is a yeast that disproportionately affects the elderly and those with compromised immune systems, and a new CDC study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that the number of people infected with and harboring C. auris is increasing at a "alarming rate." According to data compiled by The New York Times: About 500 instances of the fungal infection were reported to state and municipal health officials in 2019.
