Word: Scott Kump / Phil Tanny / Kate Wakeling / John Goldsworthy / Babak Hariri / Steve Fallon / Tom Cole
Music: Scott Kump

A song that I wrote with multiple people who were all part of the same online harmonica community. The original concept, the sub-title (which was the original title), and much of the 2nd chorus came from Phil. The intro was written by Kate. John, Babak, Steve, and Tom contributed assorted phrases. The rest was written by Yours Truly.

Here are the lyrics:

INTRO: The sun’s going down on the pier
Got the blues a ringin’ in my ear
A songwriter’s words don’t come easy
Hope to find a magic genie
Got to clear my head and play some harmonica
Down on the beach at Santa (pause) Cruz?

VERSE 1: I can’t find nuthin’ that rhymes with “harmonica”
That’s how I lost my girlfriend Monica
Tryin’ to find a rhyme for “harmonica”

VERSE 2: She said my obsession was too moronic-a
Tryin’ to find a rhyme for “harmonica”
The way she said it was so sardonic-a

BRIDGE 1: Don’t let me astonish ya
But let me admonish ya
If your girl is too snobbish-a
She won’t share your love for harmoi- (pause) sha?

(SOLO)

VERSE 3: If you find a rhyme for “harmonica”,
Tremolo, chromatic, or plain diatonic-a
Share it with me for reasons economic-a

BRIDGE 2: If It sells and I make a buck
I’ll buy a new electric truck
But this is blues, so just my luck
With my clunker I’m prob’ly stuck

VERSE 4: I can’t sell my song ‘cuz I can’t rhyme “harmonica”
I guess I don’t get my truck, electronic-a
The critics attack like vicious piranha-ca

TAG: Including my new ex-girlfriend Veronica
(spoken) Or was it Yvonne-ica? Shawna-ca? No! It was Gertrude (pause) But her middle name’s Annika.
