One helpful Trevino used to talk about to get that feeling of extension is to imagine that the ball sticks to the clubface and you're reaching way wide through the shot, with really long arms.

But it's not just about the arms - you need to rotate your body and extend through the shot as well. To help with this, I like to teach my students the "pet the grass" feeling, where they brush the turf with their right hand and keep that feeling going down the target line all the way into their finish. This will give you that feeling of long, extended arms and help you hit more consistent and accurate shots.
