Pennsylvania school district sues Norfolk Southern over East Palestine train derailment

The Blackhawk school district in Beaver county, PA is within a 15-mile radius of East Palestine, OH and filed a complaint Thursday — accusing Norfolk Southern of negligence.

The school district alleges deposits of the toxic materials have been found on their property, and in their soil and water supplies.

The lawsuit is asking for compensation for the district's students and staff for any alleged injuries and damages causing medical problems, risk of future diseases, and ongoing monitoring of its properties.

The school district wants to go to court by jury.
