The main reasons for the growth of Islam are the increase in population in Muslim-majority countries, immigration of Muslims to other parts of the world, conversion to Islam, and the high fertility rate among Muslims.

The countries with the highest concentration of Muslims are located in the Middle East and North Africa, but other countries such as India, Indonesia, and China also have significant numbers of Muslim adherents. In the United States, the number of Muslims has more than doubled since the 2000 US Census figures.

Islam is seen to be a renewable source of hope and strength to people around the world, offering them a sense of community, purpose, and self-identity.
