Splatoon 2 is a colorful and chaotic third-person shooter game for the Nintendo Switch. In this game, players control humanoid squid-like creatures called Inklings, who can transform into squids and swim through ink of their own color. The game features various modes of online and offline multiplayer battles, where players use different types of weapons that shoot ink to cover the most turf or splat their opponents. Splatoon 2 also has a single-player mode called Hero Mode, where the player takes on the role of Agent 4, a new recruit of the Squidbeak Splatoon, a secret organization that fights against the evil Octarians. The prologue of Hero Mode introduces the player to the basic controls and mechanics of the game, as well as the main characters and plot. The player meets Marie, one half of the famous pop duo Off the Hook, who reveals that her cousin and partner Callie has gone missing along with the Great Zapfish, a giant electric fish that powers Inkopolis. Marie recruits the player to join her in finding Callie and restoring power to the city. The prologue ends with the player entering Octo Canyon, where they will face various challenges and enemies in their quest to save Callie and the Great Zapfish.
