State Department sees “unprecedented demand” for passports

At a House Appropriations Committee budget hearing, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the State Department has increased staffing and resources to manage the “unprecedented demand” for passports. Sec. Blinken added the department is receiving approximately 500,000 passport applications per week.
