Twitter announces plan to remove ‘legacy’ blue checkmarks on April 1

Twitter says it will remove all ‘legacy’ verified checkmark statuses that were on accounts before Elon Musk took over. "On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks." @verified tweeted Friday. Twitter users who want the blue verification checkmark going forward will have to purchase a subscription to “Twitter Blue” or sign up for “Twitter Verified Organizations". Some users have noted, however, that Musk has been known for April Fool's Day trolling in the past.
