After much anticipation, the 2019 XXL Freshman Class list is finally here. On the list we have:
Gunna, Lil Mosey, Megan Thee Stallion, Tierra Whack, Da Baby, Rico Nasty, YK Osiris, Blueface, Comethazine, YBN Cordae and Roddy Rich. We’ve done a Before They Were Famous on everyone on this list with the exception of Tierra Whack, whose video is on the way, so check those out if you’re wondering who any of these artists are or you want to know their stories.

Every year, XXL picks their list of rappers who they think represent the future of the game, and like every year, people have a lot to say about it. More than past years, the 2019 list has actually received a lot of praise for having the right picks, but of course, there are many fans and artists with some questions about the people who DIDN’T make the list. There were some big names left off the list this year including Juice Wrld, Lil Nas X, Lil Baby and YNW Melly, so in this video we’re going to get into some possible reasons as to why you didn’t see their names on the cover and look at some other artists who got snubbed from the fine folks over at XXL.
