In Stranger Things 4 the Duffer brothers introduced the new character Eddie Munson, who is the leader of Hellfireclub aka Dungeons and Dragons group. They are labelled the freaks at high school because they like to play a fantacy game. Apparently there was a satanic panic in the 80s. Board games, video games and heavy metal, including AC/DC, were blamed. So in ST4 Eddie was easily blamed when ritual-like murders happened in Hawkins.
