What Was Written In The Lost Mayan Codices?

The Mayan Civilization were a mysterious people we know very little about. Their text have all been destroyed other than a few remaining Mayan Codices. All we know about these people is what we can gather from the few surviving records and what the Aztecs and other Meso-american civilizations said about them. Could these people have come from an advanced civilization in our distant past? Could they possibly be descendants from Atlantis or at least remnants from Atlantian culture? There are too many connections to ignore.
