Ukraine submitted a request to supply Leclerc main battle tanks from France
The Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal has addressed the French government by submitting a request to supply his country with Leclerc main battle tanks (MBT) .
The Novosti news agency wrote that Ukraine decided to turn to France after receiving a refusal from Germany to supply Leopard 2 tanks .
Previously, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said Kyiv had not been able to get supplies of Leopard 2 tanks from the German government.
This 56-tonne tank is powered by a 1,500 hp V8X SACM diesel engine. The maximum speed is 71 km/h and the operating range is 550 km.
It is known that the French Army currently has 406 Leclerc tanks , with details of 222 in operational status and 184 stored in the arsenal.
Apart from France, the Leclerc tank is also used by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Army with 354 tanks and the Jordanian Army which received 80 units with assistance from the UAE.
