In this episode, we take one final look through the Wii U eShop before it shuts down, and we discover a game we didn't know what was on there and had to buy.

We've all known these days were coming, the final days of the Nintendo Wii U and 3DS eShop as Nintendo will be shutting them off on March 27th, 2023. Surprisingly though, there's a number of sales going on right now, kind of like a going-out-of-business sale. We decided to take one final look through the Wii u's eShop before it goes dark.

Right off the bat, we noticed that Capcom seem to have a lot of their amazing titles on sale. Resident Evil 4: we addition was on sale for only $2.99! That is an amazing deal for, in my view, the definitive version of that game. It plays so well with the Wii Remote and nunchuck that even though they are better-looking versions out there, none play as well.

Also for only $2.99 is DuckTales: Remastered. If you love the original game you need to pick this up as well. It features amazing artwork, the original voice cast, and the original game is here in all of its remastered glory. I absolutely love this game and actually own two physical copies, one that I've played, and one that is sealed and was a wedding gift from my wife.

Up next, I noticed that way forward had the Shantae games on sale. While not to the same discount prices as what Capcom was doing, many of the titles were up to 50% off. That means you could get the original Shantae and the Pirates Curse for only $9.99. If you have seen what the prices have done on the physical Switch versions, this is much more budget-friendly to play these classic games.

The one thing I completely forgot about was the fact that Nintendo added TurboGrafx 16 titles to the Wii U, and they are some of the best. Bonk's Adventure, Bonk's Adventure 2, Necromancer, Air Zonk, the best of the system are all here. These are not on sale, but at $5.99 to $7.99 there's a lot of value here to begin with. I have most of the TurboGrafx 16 titles that I want to play, so I won't be adding any to my collection, but for those who are looking to play this hidden gem of a system, I would definitely recommend checking out these titles before they are gone. Hey, Nintendo, how about adding the TurboGrafx 16 to the Nintendo Switch online service?

As I did one final pass around the eShop, one final game did catch my attention. And it did it hard. I was actually cruising around on the 3DS eShop when I saw it, one of my favorite games for the NES of all time. I'm talking about Mighty Final Fight. Released in 1993 for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Mighty Final Fight takes all the characters and adds a chibi graphical style to them. It has amazing music, and tight controls, it is simply one of my favorite NES games of all time. It is probably my favorite beat 'em ups of all time that's for sure. At $4.99 I had to make this purchase. Now, you can't add funds via credit card to the Wii U eShop anymore, however, I do have funds on my Nintendo account from my switch which is also linked to my Wii U. As such, easy peasy lemon squeezy.

The Wii U is a fantastic system, a failure mostly due to the success of its direct predecessor and poor marking and branding. Without the Wii U, I don't think we would have the Nintendo switch. I always enjoy playing the system, and I'm glad that I still have my physical games so I don't have to worry about the eShop going dark. It is still disappointing that Nintendo is pulling the plug though. Are you picking up any last-minute games through the Nintendo Wii U or 3DS eShop? Let us know in the comments.
