Manhattan DA: Trump created false expectation of arrest

According to prosecutors in New York City, Donald Trump gave a false impression that he would be arrested and encouraged his Republican colleagues in Congress to obstruct an investigation into his payment of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Trump made the prediction of his arrest on Tuesday in connection with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office probe, but as of Wednesday, no indictment had been issued by the grand jury investigating the Stormy Daniels case, Yahoo News reported.

On Monday, three Republican committee chairmen in the U.S. House of Representatives accused Democratic District Attorney Alvin Bragg of abusing prosecutorial authority. On Thursday, Bragg’s office responded by sending a letter to the committee chairmen, which Reuters has seen.
