Keston Ponds is a small series of ponds nestled amongst woodland meadows in the London Borough of Bromley. These small park lake ponds can be mistaken for small puddles. With not one of them being more than an acre, but for me and many other fishermen, they are so much more. A special place, a hidden secret and time defying slice of heaven on the edge of a lightning paced, urban monster.
The ponds get its gin clear water from a natural spring also known as Caesars Well which is in turn, the source of the River Ravensbourne. The River Ravensbourne flows a total of 11 miles (17km) through the Boroughs of Bromley, Lewisham, and Greenwich before joining old father Thames in Deptford, where it is renamed Deptford Creek. This Journey has always fascinated me and is one of the reasons I chose it as my dad’s final resting place in England.
