A cenote is a natural pit, or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater.
The Yucatán Peninsula has an estimated 10,000 cenotes, water-filled sinkholes naturally formed by the collapse of limestone, located across the Yucatán Peninsula, in Mexico.
Cenotes are formed by the dissolution of rock and the resulting subsurface void, which may or may not be linked to an active cave system. This means that there is an opening at the bottom area somewhere into an active cave system that connects to other cenotes and, or to the ocean possibly. These are extremely dangerous for anyone who is not a certified diver with caving certifications as well as technical dive certifications. If you want to YouTube such videos go for it, but they usually are horror stories.
While the depth of this cenote, Yokdzonot, is estimated to be 45 meters, or 147 feet about, apparently the actual depth has not been confirmed for a few different reasons, but it is still a deeper cenote. While the deepest known is estimated at 282 meters, or 925 feet deep.
