The threat of violence in schools begins as young as elementary school. A recent report from Marion, Ohio: “Marion City School teachers are now speaking out about the abuse, violence, and harassment they've been facing from students. Many of the incidents were from elementary students.” These incidents are reported, though often quietly, in schools across the country. Washoe County is one of them. Recent reports include murder of a student (off campus, but after many reports to school officials about bullying between students), teacher abuse from students in middle school to name just a couple of incidents.
In February, 2023, US News reported “A Big Rise in U.S. Teen Girls Reporting Violence, Sadness…“ Though schools may or should be the answer, it doesn’t seem to be working.
