The reverse arm lock is a great restraining technique to be used when in public spaces. Rey Ellingsen demonstrates an effective reverse arm lock self defense move by initiating contact following a shove by the aggressor. Normally restraint techniques are for bouncers and law enforcement officers only. On the street, you don't want to be that close to an enraged attacker. But there are plenty of self defense situations where something like this reverse arm lock can be the right choice. For example, in a crowded area where a belligerent person is making a scene and there are two many bystanders to start throwing punches, or an overly intoxicated buddy is making a scene. I'm sure you can think of a few more. This reverse arm lock is another tool for the tool box.
