RUMORS ABOUT A POSSIBLE VICTORY???...PITTSBURG PENGUINS NEWS
With four consecutive losses behind them, the Pittsburgh Penguins are on the outside of the playoff race in the Eastern Conference and desperately need a win to keep fighting. The next opponent, the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Colorado Avalanche, will present a tough test. There are three main things to watch for in this game.
The first is that Sidney Crosby, despite leading the team in goals over the last five games, has not scored in five games. The Penguins' captain needs to find his form again and help his team score points. With such a critical win at stake, Crosby will need to score at least one or two goals to make sure his team is back on track.
The second thing to watch is forward Rickard Rakell, who is having a resurgence year for the Penguins. Rakell has recorded 50 points for the first time since 2017-18, making him a standout for the Penguins this season. He scored the team's only goal during their last loss, and will be a critical factor for the Pens' offense in this game.
The last thing to watch is that the Penguins are dominating the Central Division. They have had a tough year against their own division, but have performed excellently against the Western Conference. Specifically, they have won 10 of their 11 games against the Central Division, outscoring their opponents 41-21. The Penguins need to continue this magic against the Avalanche and secure their 11th win against Central Division teams this season.
On Wednesday, the Colorado Avalanche will face the Pittsburgh Penguins for the second and final time during the regular season. Seeking their seventh consecutive win, the Avalanche will be challenged by the Penguins, who won the last matchup in February 2-1 in overtime.
In their last game, the Colorado dominated the Chicago Blackhawks 5-0 with strong performances from defenseman Kurtis MacDermid, center Denis Malgin, forward Mikko Rantanen, and goalie Alexandar Georgiev, who made 27 saves.
On the other hand, Pittsburgh lost to the Ottawa Senators 2-1, with a goal scored by forward Rickard Rakell and a solid performance from goalie Tristan Jarry, who made 19 saves on 21 shots.
In the history of matchups between the two teams, the Colorado Avalanche have a record of 44-36-13 against the Pittsburgh Penguins, with a record of 22-9-9 since the franchise moved to Denver.
As for connections between the teams, center Evan Rodrigues spent part of his career with the Penguins, accumulating 27 goals and 31 assists in his three years with the team.
On the Penguins' side, captain Sidney Crosby leads the team with 83 points (29g/54a) in 70 games played, followed by center Evgeni Malkin, who has 73 points (24g/49a) in the same number of games.
