Attorney Steve, the business and real estate lawyer, discusses the topic of "Turf Warfare" and the potential causes of action available to real estate brokers and other business owners when their good name and reputation are being tarnished.

This video discusses in general terms the following legal issues:

1. Defamation - (both libel and slander) false statements of fact that cause damages.

2. False light - publications that place a real estate broker of business person in a false light in the public eye, and cause damages.

3. Publication of private facts - (ex. highly embarrassing publications that are highly offensive to a reasonable person, cause damages, do not relate to legitimate news, etc).

4. Intrusion on seclusion and solitude

5. Copyright infringement (ex. using unauthorized photos of real estate agents, etc. without consent)

6. Violation of California Right of Publicity law (every broker and business owner - every person - has the right to control the commercial use of their name, image, and likeness and prevent others from misappropriation of same.
