General tips on one way Autodesk MIGHT learn about your company not having licensed Autodesk Autocad, LT, Revit software. Posting job listings when your company does not have any properly licensed copies of their software is a very risky proposition. This may lead them to look your business up and try to determine if you are a paying customer or not. If you are hiring architects, engineers, or designers who MUST HAVE Autodesk experience, surely that means you are using their software currently right? If they look you up in their licensing registration database and don't see your company properly licensed, this can in my opinion trigger a software audit letter requesting your company to verify its license ownership position.

This is a general theory only, and is based upon comments from our clients. Some other ways they may have found out about unlicensed software or piracy could include:

1. Monitoring the internet for illegal downloads on Torrent websites

2. Informants and disgruntled ex-employees who report the architect, designer or engineer to Autodesk

3. "Crash-reports" sent to Autodesk when unlicensed software fails and the user initiates a report.
