Attorney Steve discusses intellectual property cases from the United States Supreme Court in this episode of Supreme Court Reports.

It in this video we discuss the USPTO vs. Tam case that was heard on the issue of whether offensive and potentially disparaging trademarks could be registered.

In this case, the "Slants" were an asian dance rock group that wanted to register the trademark. The USPTO felt the mark was offensive and did not allow registration. The case eventually made it to "the court of last resort" who found that the Lanham act provision violated the 1st amendment free speech clause of the constitution.
