The other reason this rebuttal video is an important public service announcement is because the people named in the John Doe Lawsuits (many minorities) is that in most cases these are "jury trial cases" and false perceptions can be falsely read by people (including potential jurors) who may read an article like those listed in this video, and believe that the Torrent movie company is a fair, honest, and peaceful company just looking to make things right, when, in my experience, they are looking for every last penny a person has to give with some exceptions. Under the California rules of professional lawyer conduct, we are allowed to rebut these types of extrajudicial statements that can potentially impact a jury pool. If it were absolutely true that would be one thing, but the statements being made, in my opinion, have the effect of unduly and unfairly influencing potential jurors. We have a right to rebut that.
