Attorney Steve® discusses the rise of the "Legal Paraprofessional." It's a career path between the lawyer and the paralegal. In Arizona, a licensed legal professional can be an owner of a law firm. They can also prepare and advise on a select number of legal issues (ex. criminal and civil limited, administrative law, and family law), and even appear in certain courts - all without a lawyer. You can even start your own "Legal Paraprofessional" practice without a lawyer present. This is pretty big news. California has a working group working on a very similar proposal and I suspect this will be launched this year. So, if you meet the educational requirements, pass the examination and show good fitness and character, I just may see you at the bar.
