Random Rants: Blackwashed Mermaid Filmmakers Don't Understand The Original Character!

Blackwashed Ariel actress Halle Bailey seems to think Disney is updating the Little Mermaid character for the modern era. Instead of a young mermaid pining away for Prince Eric, she will be a proud, independent mermaid that's all "about herself, her purpose, her freedom, her life..."

Except that was always what the character was always about.

Apparently the writers of this film didn't pick up on the obvious characterization of the original Ariel like 99% of the world. I guess if a theme isn't hitting them square on the nose and explicitly stated in the narrative, it just flies right over these idiots’ heads.
