We always planned for a second bench around our Slab Kitchen Dining Table and today we Build A Farmhouse Bench With Storage! This crazy figured maple bench is 80 inches long and can easily seat 4 adults if you wanted to entertain that many people around your table! If you wanted this farmhouse bench as a entry way bench to sit on and tie shoes there is TONS of storage underneath the slab. No need to worry about slamming the slab down on delicate fingers as there is a pair of soft close hinges to slowly settle the bench top down when you are done getting inside.

The farmhouse slab table was made from maple and we wanted this bench to match. It seems like maple has been a hot item lately as most of my local buddies that mill slabs were out. Ron in Richmond MI had a few maple slabs that had been drying for a few years but they were not long enough to make the 80 wide bench from one piece so I had to piece boards together to make the top the width that we were after. It seems to have worked out well and we will see how well it holds up over time!

The bench has lots of storage under the slab top and this storage doubles as the support for the bench and as a space for tons of storage for books, place mats, napkins or whatever you may want near the table. The metal legs, made from 1x2 metal tubing...but can also be made from sections of wood in a much simpler manner, bolt through this storage box. The structure is very strong and will last a lifetime!
