Raja Gosnell directed the films and James Gunn wrote the scripts. He went on to be a huge star in pop culture with "Guardians of the Galaxy" as well as his new role of co-CEO of DC Studios. The two films raked in a lot of cash at the box office for Warner Bros., though they weren't exactly critically-appreciated hits. The projects were loved by kids, but they left a lot to be desired by older viewers who grew up with the cartoons. But he is upset that he was lied too and that the script had been changed from the original. It makes sense. However, I imagine that it is a common occurrence where the final product is quite different from the one originally presented.
