A Carpenters Journey to Real Estate Investing

Michael Mannino, a successful real estate investor and carpenter, recently shared his insights and experiences on the Freedom Chasers Podcast. Michael believes that having a positive mindset and believing that the universe is on your side is key to achieving success. Michael has achieved many successes in real estate, including wholesaling an apartment complex and a storage facility for hundreds of thousands of dollars. He has also leveraged his carpentry skills to flip homes and build a house in just six days. Michael talks about his experience in construction and how he used his knowledge of ergonomics to manage a team of volunteers to build a house. He believes that working in a similar vision in tandem can help people work more efficiently.
Michael also discusses his experience with coaching and how joining a program on flipping houses helped him learn a lot in a short amount of time. He gives an example of how getting an appraisal on a property before selling it helped him make a significant profit, which paid for the cost of the program. He now gets an appraisal for every property he works on, which helps him get a better understanding of the ARV (after repair value).
Michael’s philosophy is not goal-setting, but rather defining success as being successful in everything he does. He talks about his personal and professional achievements, including working on a billionaire's mansion in Detroit. Michael discusses how he knows when he is on the right path, and that if he struggles too much with something, it's probably not what God wants him to do.
Timing is crucial in determining success or failure in the real estate market, according to Michael He references a Ted Talk that identified five metrics for business success, with timing being the most crucial factor. Menino also uses his faith to guide him in his decision-making process, noting that he feels that when he is being guided by God, things feel light and easy, whereas when he is not, things feel heavy and difficult.
Despite having a great system and support from his team, Michael shares his struggles in finding good real estate deals in Florida. However, he remains optimistic and determined to succeed.
