While trying to teach my kids about America of the 1970s, my daughter asked me how American kids knew so much about drugs. It got me thinking about how in America they managed to make drugs a part of every day life, how they made it pop culture, how even the schools were involved in teaching you everything that you would ever need to know to end up a junkie. Why did they work so hard to teach us about something that we would never have known about or been exposed to at all? The American education system and public service announcement system served as the sole educator and pusher of drugs and drug culture for me and everyone that I ever knew. For generations tax payer dollars flooded into attempting to make sobriety seem boring and uncool!
