The New York Police Department (NYPD) was seen preparing the streets surrounding Trump Towers in Manhattan on Monday ahead of an anticipated indictment against former President Donald Trump.

Footage shows police officers unloading concrete barricades with a forklift truck and lining the pavements with them. Metal fences could also be seen at the roadside.

“I think if it does happen will be historical. No other President has been arrested,” a local said. “It's going to be interesting if he does get arrested. I think there's going to be a big turnout here at the Trump Towers."

Donald Trump is set to face criminal charges for ordering former lawyer, Michael Cohen to allegedly issue a payment of $130,000 to porn star Stormy Daniels to conceal an intimate relationship years ago.

Trump himself denies all claims and has called on his supporters to protest.

On Monday, police officers reportedly held a meeting with the mayor's public safety aides to discuss security measures in the event of a mass demonstration outside of the building which houses Trump’s penthouse condominium residence.

According to representatives of the NYPD, as many as 700 officers may be deployed as a strategic response group in the event of civil unrest.
