Starmer reacts: Labour proposes extensive police reform to tackle "toxic" culture within the Met Police

UK Labour Party has proposed setting up specialist sexual assault units in every police force and placing domestic violence experts in all 999 call centres following a report into the Metropolitan Police which branded the force racist, sexist and homophobic.

The proposals include mandatory, nationally set police vetting and specialist training for all officers on bias and violence against women and girls. Sir Keir Starmer pledged more routes into policing for people from different backgrounds, including direct routes into detective work.

The Home Secretary acknowledged the report's findings and said that the Met faced a long road to recovery.
