alternatively transliterated Al-Baqarah (Arabic: الْبَقَرَة, "The Heifer" or "The Cow"), is the second and longest chapter (surah) of the Quran.
It consists of 286 verses (āyāt) which begin with the "mysterious letters ( " muqatta'at " ) A.L.M.
