Sudden and synchronized course change by the herd (Etologia, Ethologia)

Parallel to the waterfront and for a long time a flock of gray mullet (Mugil cephalus) swam from right to left.
Suddenly and in sync they changed course and continued from left to right, as seen from the quayside, right to left if the observation point was at sea.
The synchronization (in unison) of the herd was absolute and at higher levels of social (herd) intelligence.
