North Korea Simulates Nuclear Attack

DPRK claimed its latest missile launches were designed to simulate a nuclear attack on its neighbor as part of protests against joint South Korea-US military drills.

State media outlet KCNA claimed the missile flew 800km with a mock nuclear warhead into the sea off North Korea’s eastern coast as the denouement of two-day drills, including atomic command control and troop readiness exercises.

Analysts claim photos released suggest Pyongyang has developed a solid-fuel missile similar to Russia’s Iskander mobile ballistic system, which would theoretically evade defense systems more efficiently.
