Earthquake hits Ecuador and Peru causing widespread damage

The US Geological Survey reported an earthquake with a magnitude of about 6.8 in Ecuador's Guayas region. Videos shared on social media show streets littered with debris and fallen power lines. A museum on a pier in the coastal area of El Oro province was almost completely submerged after it collapsed into the sea.
