In a recent interview with Deadline, the actor said that discussions about involving Castiel in The Winchesters season 1 took place, though it was unable to become a reality. As for the future, Collins said: "We did have conversations about Castiel rejoining the Supernatural universe for the end of this first season of The Winchesters but for various reasons, it didn’t work out. But Jensen [Ackles] and I are certainly open to it. We’ve had several conversations about it and would love to explore how to best do that in subsequent seasons of The Winchesters." How Castiel Could Return In The Winchesters The Winchesters has brought back a number of Supernatural characters already, including Henry Winchester (Gil McKinney), Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver), and Jack Kline (Alexander Calvert). How Dean connected to the story was revealed in the season finale, during which he explained that he was dead and came from another Earth.
