How To Turn Off The Emergency Alert System from Your Android devices #shorts

The UK government has launched a new emergency alert system that will send a siren-like alert to mobile phones. Your phone will not function until you acknowledge the message. We are told that it will be used to warn us if there is a danger to life, such as severe flooding, fires and extreme weather. Does that mean we'll get alerts when it snows or wind gets above 50mph? Jeez.

It can be turned off though, and this video shows you how to do that.

A bit more about the new system.....

The system will give the government and emergency services the ability to send a message directly to mobile phones when there is a risk to life. When your device receives the alert it will vibrate and play a loud siren-like sound for up to 10 seconds.

The siren will be accompanied by a notification on your home screen, which you will have to acknowledge before you can use other features. The notification may include telephone numbers or website links containing further information.

The new system, which will go live on Sunday 23 April, should allow the government and emergency services to get urgent messages quickly to nearly 90 per cent of mobile phones in a defined area. Any compatible device within range will receive the message.

I suppose it could be useful should another pandemic come along. You know, it could tell us to stay at home, stay 6 feet away, sit down in a restaurant to keep us safe, follow some arrows on the floor etc. But nah, pandemics are only once in a 100 years, aren't they Dr Bill Gates...?
