Just watched a fascinating conversation about the perception of marijuana in the past and its potential benefits. Thomas FreeMe and Sean Dustin discussed how marijuana was marketed as the "devil's weed" in the past, but in reality, it can expand your mind and make you think about things differently. They also talked about the importance of self-talk and navigating your own mind when using marijuana. Have you had similar experiences? Share your thoughts in the comments below. #Marijuana #MindExpansion #SelfTalk

Cannabis prohibition refers to the legal restrictions and criminalization of the cultivation, sale, and consumption of cannabis or marijuana. The prohibition of cannabis started in the early 20th century, and one of the key figures in this movement was Harry J. Anslinger.

Harry J. Anslinger was the first commissioner of the Federal Bureau of Narcotics, a position he held from 1930 to 1962. Anslinger was a strong proponent of drug prohibition and played a significant role in the passage of the Marihuana Tax Act of 1937, which effectively outlawed the use and distribution of cannabis in the United States.

There is evidence to suggest that racism played a significant role in the demonization of cannabis. Anslinger and other proponents of prohibition frequently used racist and xenophobic rhetoric to promote their agenda. They spread propaganda that linked cannabis use with African American and Mexican immigrant communities, often using derogatory terms to describe these groups. For example, Anslinger claimed that "Reefer makes darkies think they're as good as white men" and that "There are 100,000 total marijuana smokers in the US, and most are Negroes, Hispanics, Filipinos, and entertainers. Their Satanic music, jazz, and swing result from marijuana use. This marijuana causes white women to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and any others."

These racist and baseless claims contributed to the stigmatization of cannabis use and helped to build public support for its prohibition. However, in recent years, there has been a growing recognition of the harm caused by cannabis prohibition, and many advocates are calling for its legalization and regulation.
