SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk has announced that the company is tentatively eyeing mid- to late April for the first-ever orbital test flight of its Starship vehicle, assuming FAA license approval is granted. The mission will lift off from the company's Starbase facility in South Texas, featuring a giant first-stage booster called Super Heavy and a 165-foot-tall upper-stage spacecraft known as Starship. Both vehicles are designed to be fully and rapidly reusable and powered by SpaceX's next-gen Raptor engine. Musk has mentioned that there is about a 50% chance of success on the debut orbital flight, but with multiple Starship vehicles being assembled, the company has an 80% chance of reaching orbit this year.
