Star Wars Theory Suggests Ahsoka Tano STILL Isn't A Jedi
Ahsoka never accepted the offer to become a Jedi Knight, and obviously she is not a Sith, so what kind of Force-user will she be in the Ahsoka series? One of the biggest questions the Ahsoka series can answer is what category Ahsoka Tano falls under as a Force-user. The Force has been a central aspect of Star Wars since its inception. In the beginning, it seemed as if Force-users were either Jedi who exercised the light side, or Sith who leaned into the dark. While Star Wars books have often covered stories beyond just Jedi and Sith, only recently has the franchise begun exploring alternate paths on-screen. In other words, the “good guy” Force-users in Star Wars are no longer bound to just being Jedi. When Ashley Eckstein’s Ahsoka made her canon debut in The Clone Wars film, it was obvious that she had aspirations of becoming a Jedi Knight. Ahsoka was trained by several Jedi after being brought to the Temple by Plo Koon. Upon being assigned to Anakin Skywalker as a Padawan learner, she strived to prove herself as a strong and capable warrior throughout The Clone Wars. Like her master, her headstrong nature often got her in trouble, yet she still excelled and deepened her knowledge of the Force through each challenging encounter she emerged from. Why Ahsoka Tano Left The Jedi Order Near the end of The Clone Wars, Ahsoka is framed for bombing the Jedi Temple. Rather than believe her or hear her out, the Jedi Council was quick to remove her from their ranks, forcing her to discover the real criminal on her own. But even though Anakin managed to bring the criminal to justice, the damage had already been done. Despite her years of devotion, Ahsoka chose to leave the Jedi Order after they cast her aside. Though they tried to make amends by offering her the status of Jedi Knight, she realized they had essentially used her as a soldier in the Clone Wars. Ahsoka romanticized the idea of becoming a Jedi Knight. Her vision was more akin to the Jedi Order of old, one that wasn’t clouded or filled with hubris. She is similar to Count Dooku in that she realized that the Order wasn’t what she’d dreamed of. But unlike Dooku, she wasn’t seduced to leave due to the dark side. Instead, Ahsoka retained her affinity to the light side of the Force, but set out to forge her own path beyond the Jedi. Even though Ahsoka endured the trials to become a Jedi, she never officially graduated from the rank of Padawan. Ahsoka Doesn't Seem To Have Rejoined The Jedi In The Mandalorian Tales of the Jedi and Star Wars Rebels further explored Ahsoka’s journey after leaving the Jedi. She continued to practice the Force selflessly, assisting Ezra Bridger with the Rebellion to bring down the Empire. Yet during her duel with her former master, she specifically tells him that she is no Jedi. This still seems to be the case, even after Luke reinvents the Jedi Order. When Ahsoka visits him in The Book of Boba Fett, Luke asks if he will ever see her again, implying that she is not taking part in his New Order. While there are some who have theorized that Ahsoka went to build a different Jedi Order on her own, this wouldn’t make much sense. When Din Djarin asks her to train Grogu in the ways of the Force, she flat-out says no, and instead, tells him to seek Luke. She’s willing to help guide Grogu, similarly to how she did with Ezra, but she hesitates to follow any of the Jedi’s traditional views. All in all, it’s clear that Ahsoka does not align with the Jedi or any other entity. Despite her powerful Force abilities and deep wisdom, she is her own independent operative. If Ahsoka Isn't A Jedi... What Is She? Given that Ahsoka isn’t a Jedi or a Sith, she falls in another category of Force-users that has yet to be given a name. She shares similarities to the “Gray” Jedi in Star Wars Legends, who operate outside of the Jedi and the Sith, yet typically lean...
