Angel, Tom, and The Blue Jay 🌲 03/18/23 09:30

Angel flies in with a tiny twig and to a Blue Jay doing his warning call in the background. While she is there, she does some tidying up of the nest. She doesn't stay long, flies off, then Tom shows up 10 minutes later. He flies in carrying a piece of bark and places it above the nest bole. The Blue Jays are now circling, with one dive bombing Tom at the nest several times. Tom leaves for a few seconds, then comes back to the nest to finish moving the bark and straightening up the nest. The Blue Jays are still harassing him, but he ignores them, finishes his job, then vacates the nest.

Angel's Story (from cam link above):
Angel is a very rare Leucistic Red-Tailed Hawk. 2 years ago, Angel & Mohawk (no longer around) raised 3 chicks and they fledged successfully. Last year Angel chose a new mate and he was still a subadult. Since the new male was not fully mature, they did not have eggs last year. This year he has fully matured and their bond seems strong. Will post a view soon about the history of Angel and how we came to put in this very unique and rare camera.
