Note from Amos37: The early Church struggled with the Judiaziers and Gnostics, and the Holy Spirit gave us Galatians & Romans, just to name two books to clarify the Purpose of the Law. Just read Romans Chapters 1 thru 8 and especially think upon Chapter 7 summary statements by the Apostle Paul, who was a Pharisee of the strictest sect of the Jews of Jesus Day.

"What shall we say then? [Is] the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet." [Romans 7:7]

"Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?" [Galatians 4:21]

[Gal 2:16 KJV] 16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
